Cancellation & Refunds

Last updated: July 2026 · (Draft — pending final legal review.)

Because Where we sailing? is a booking agent and your charter contract is with the charter company (“Operator”), the Operator’s cancellation and refund policy governs your booking. That policy — including deadlines and any fees — is shown in the Operator’s booking documents and charter agreement before you pay.

How it typically works

Operator policies vary, but charter cancellation terms are commonly tiered by how far ahead you cancel — for example, a percentage fee if you cancel within a certain window before embarkation, rising to the full amount close to the start date. Always check the specific policy for your boat.

The deposit & refunds

The deposit you and your crew pay through Where we sailing? secures the boat. Whether it is refundable — and how much — depends on the Operator’s cancellation policy for your booking. If a refund of the deposit is due under that policy, we’ll process it back to each crew member’s original card via our payment processor. The balance and any other charter payments are made to the Operator, and refunds of those are issued by the Operator under their policy.

Changes to a booking

Date or boat changes are at the Operator’s discretion and may be treated as a cancellation plus rebooking. Contact us and we’ll relay your request and help where we can.

Travel insurance

We strongly recommend travel / charter-cancellation insurance to cover your deposit and balance against unexpected changes.
